The ASP held its 1st Quarter General Assembly Meeting last February 21, 2020 at the Insular Life Makati Main Ballroom – another milestone in the ASP as this is the most attended quarterly meeting so far. The theme for the year is “ASP 2020: The Future-Proof Actuary”. We need to have a 20/20 vision as to where we want to position ourselves as a profession in the middle of all the advances in digitalization, big data, and many more. Are we future-proof?
In line with this year’s theme, we have invited Mr. Henry R. Aguda as our guest speaker. He is the Chairman of the Board of UBX Philippines and SEVP – Chief Technology and Operations Officer and Chief Transformation Officer of Union Bank of the Philippines. Mr Aguda’s presentation, entitled “Digital Transformation Journey: Employee Engagement (EX), Customer Engagement (CX), Financial Engagement (FX)”, focused on digitalization and how this can fuel success in the financial sector.
In addition, there is no better way to start the year than by honoring our ASP service awardees. Among those recognized were Sachi Pang (20 years), Mona Lisa dela Cruz (35 years), Jaime Santiago (40 years), Ernesto Reyes (45 years), Mabini Juan (50 years), Mariano Mercado, Jr. (55 years) and Dolores Gicaro (55 years). Also, we remembered the death of our beloved ASP Fellow, Daniel Mercado, Jr.
Next up was the Board putting on the spotlight on its major projects for the year. One of the highlights of the business meeting was the audio-visual announcement video prepared by the P&A Committee to drumroll this year’s convention, to be held in Iloilo City this coming November 12 to 14.
