The 2014 ASP Examination Catalogue is out! The Examination Committee has released the new course of reading for the new examination system which will be implemented for the first time on July 2014. Please refer to this link to access the 2014 ASP Examination Catalogue.

From four 6-hour exams, the new local fellowship exams have been reduced to just two 6-hour exams covering Philippine actuarial practice:

ASP Integrated Exam I covers Philippine practice and regulation of life, pre-need and non-life products with respect to development, pricing, distribution, valuation, financial reporting, investments and reinsurance.

ASP Integrated Exam II covers the tax practices and regulations for life insurance, non-life insurance and pre-need. Exam II also covers social insurance, microinsurance, health care systems, group insurance and employee benefit practices and regulations in the Philippines.

Members will note the inclusion of non-life insurance material under the 2014 Examination System, expanding the knowledge base of actuaries to cover more areas of actuarial practice. The new course of reading also includes exciting and relevant new materials such as Market Conduct Guidelines, Actuarial Standards of Practice for Group Insurance, and regulations surrounding health care systems, among others.

To give candidates more time to be familiar with and prepare for the new material, the first offering of the 2014 ASP fellowship exams has been deferred to July 21 and 25 for ASP Integrated Exams I and II, respectively, rather than the usual June schedule.

Candidates may register for the July 2014 examination season not later than April 11, 2014.
