Maria Sharon Borres-Maranan, or Sharon to those know her, has been in the actuarial industry for almost four decades.

Sharon is currently the Senior Executive Vice President and the Head of Group Business for Generali Life Assurance Philippines, Inc. Prior to that, she was served various roles for Generali Pilipinas Life Assurance Company. Sharon was also the Executive Vice President and Chief Actuary for Great Pacific Life Assurance Corporation. She has also served as Consulting Actuary for companies such as Pacific Plans, Inc, Manulife Financial Philippines, Nippon Life Philippines and GE Life Insurance Philippines.

Sharon holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics, Major in Actuarial Science, magna cum laude, from the University of Santo Tomas. She was a recipient of the Albertus Magnus Science Award from the same university for outstanding achievement of an alumna in the field of actuarial science.  She has also completed the Management Development Program from the Asian Institute of Management.

Sharon is an Accredited Life Actuary and a Qualified Actuary for HMOs by the Insurance Commission. She is a Fellow of the Actuarial Society of the Philippines and a member of the International Actuarial Association.
