Isabelo Africa, Sir Ipa or Frix to those who know him, has been in the actuarial industry for more than four decades. Considered as a brilliant actuary, Frix has also been a steadfast leader and unfailing mentor to those fortunate enough to have worked under him.

Frix is currently the President and CEO of the UCPB General Insurance Co., Inc. He is also a Member of the company’s Board of Directors. Prior to that, he has served the United Coconut Planters Life Assurance Corporation as consultant, Actuary and Senior Vice President for Technical and Administrative Operations. Frix has also served various roles in institutions such as the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Medicare (now known as Philhealth), Insurance Institute for Asia and the Pacific (IIAP), Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation and the Insurance Commission (IC). Frix has also served as Professional Lecturer at the University of the Philippines and as Instruction Specialist at the Philippine Science High School.

Frix holds a Bachelor of Science degree major in Mathematics, cum laude, from the University of the Philippines. He has Master of Science degree major in Actuarial Mathematics from the University of Michigan as a Philippine Government Scholar. He has also completed a 22nd Basic EDP and COBOL Programming course as a Topnotcher at the National Computer Institute in Camp Aguinaldo. Frix is a recipient of scholarship (PSHS – NSDB) and a graduate of Philippine Science High School.

Frix is a Fellow of the Actuarial Society of the Philippines and of the Life Office Management Institute (with distinction). He is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and Pi Gamma Mu Social Science Honor Society.
